Chapter 80 - The Resurfaced Leviathan

Caleb and Evelyn rushed up the spiral iron staircase to the observation deck of the lighthouse.
The wind roared around them, tearing at their clothes as they leaned over the rusted iron railing, staring out into the pitch-black abyss of the Atlantic Ocean.
The storm clouds overhead broke open, illuminated by the pale light of the rising dawn. The ocean five hundred yards offshore began to churn violently. White water boiled across an expanse of two hundred yards, frothing into enormous foam-crested waves as if a dormant volcano were preparing to erupt from the ocean floor.
"There!" Evelyn pointed, her voice trembling with sheer awe.
From the dark, churning depths, a colossal, matte-black silhouette breached the surface.
Water cascaded off its curved, razor-sharp titanium hull in roaring waterfalls. It was not a conventional submarine; it was a leviathan of naval engineering—a 600-foot stealth command dreadnought, its angular, stealth-paneled armor gleaming under the first golden rays of the morning sun. Emblazoned across its conning tower in weathered gold letters was the name: **VALKYRIE.**
On the bluffs behind them, Marcus and the estate guards lowered their weapons in stunned silence, staring at the mechanical giant that had risen from the dead.
Suddenly, the lighthouse’s long-range radio receiver crackled back to life. But it was not Eleanor Vance’s voice that came through the speaker this time.
It was an automated distress klaxon from within the *Valkyrie* itself, blaring a priority-one warning code across all international maritime channels:
*“MAYDAY. MAYDAY. THIS IS FLEET COMMAND VESSEL VALKYRIE. HULL INTEGRITY COMPROMISED. WE HAVE SURFACED TO EVACUATE. BE ADVISED: WE WERE NOT ALONE IN THE TRENCH.”*
May you like
Caleb’s blood ran cold. He grabbed the lighthouse binoculars and focused on the surging waters directly behind the *Valkyrie*.
Rising beneath the surface just two hundred yards behind the dreadnought was a second, even larger sonar shadow—a massive, unmarked warship cutting through the waves like a predator, its heavy deck guns already rotating toward the bluffs of Sycamore Lane.
