Chapter 37 - Bloodline and Bilateral Accord

Outside the harbor windows, the deep rumble of high-powered marine diesel engines tore through the night fog.
Alistair’s two tactical guards turned toward the terrace doors in alarm.
Through the mist, four heavy tactical interceptor vessels flying the sovereign colors of the United States Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team and the International Maritime Organization cut across the water, their 50-caliber turret mounts manned and tracking directly onto the bridge of Alistair's phantom freighter.
Over the external PA system of the lead interceptor, an authoritative voice boomed across the water:
*"Unidentified vessel at Harbor House dock, this is the Federal Maritime Enforcement Task Force. You are in violation of sovereign maritime territorial waters. All personnel stand down and disarm immediately!"*
Alistair’s men raised their carbines toward the windows, panic flashing in their eyes.
"Lower your weapons!" Alistair hissed, his jaw twitching with rage. He turned on Arthur, his walking cane trembling. "You called the federal authorities into a private trust dispute?! You fool! If they audit this trust, the entire Vance estate will be scrutinized by the IRS!"
"The IRS already audited us on Sycamore Lane three weeks ago, Alistair," Caleb smiled coldly. "Every single dollar in this house was scrubbed, verified, and placed under a federal protection trust. Julian Montgomery’s collapse gave the Department of Justice everything they needed to cross-reference your shell companies in Panama and Cyprus."
Arthur walked slowly up to Alistair, standing chest to chest with his old brother-in-law.
"You thought you were a ghost, Alistair," Arthur said in a low, resonant rumble. "You thought that because you hid behind phantom manifests and shell companies, the world forgot what you did during the offshore scandals of 1994. But Eleanor never forgot. She kept the audit logs. She kept the transshipment receipts. And they weren't in the wine cellar. They were encrypted right inside the quartz wafer you are holding in your hand."
Alistair looked down at the locket in terror.
The locket was not just a key. It was a digital beacon. The moment it was opened and exposed to light, its internal transmitter broadcasted its pre-recorded encrypted distress signal to the Maritime Task Force command frequency.
Heavy bootsteps pounded against the stone terrace outside. The heavy glass doors were pushed open by tactical agents clad in black body armor, their rifles raised, red laser dots painting the chests of Alistair’s private guards.
"Federal agents! Drop your weapons! Hands where we can see them!"
The two guards hesitated for half a second before clattering their weapons onto the marble floor, raising their hands in total submission.

Chloe curled into a ball on the floor, weeping hysterically as agents swiftly zip-tied her wrists and led her out the front doors into an awaiting transport van. Her reign of manipulation and betrayal had officially reached its pathetic end.
