Chapter 36 - The War Room at Bellagio

By noon, the private study of Villa Rossi had transformed into a command center.
Francesca sat at the head of the long walnut table, multiple laptops open before her, while Julian worked his contacts across European banking and law enforcement. Matteo Lombardi, Julian’s most trusted corporate attorney, stood beside a large whiteboard mapping out the ownership structure of Rossi Enterprises.
"Christian’s legal petition is ingenious," Matteo explained, his brow furrowed with anxiety. "By leveraging Jason’s shell companies in Delaware and Nicole’s family trusts in the Bahamas, Christian has acquired thirty-four percent of the non-voting shares. If the Milan court grants him parental guardianship over Aurelia, he automatically gains custody of the fifteen percent trust fund Julian established in Aurelia’s name."
"Giving them forty-nine percent," Francesca deduced instantly, her fingers flying across her keyboard. "They only need two percent more from the independent Swiss institutional shareholders to force a vote of no confidence and strip Julian of the chairmanship."
"Exactly," Julian said grimly, slamming down his phone. "And Jason Vance has spent the last forty-eight hours meeting with the Geneva private bankers, offering them outrageous premiums on Christian's behalf."
"Where is Jason getting that kind of liquidity?" Francesca asked, her eyes narrowing. "Jason was bankrupt. Nicole’s father was facing SEC sanctions in New York. They don't have eighty million euros to buy institutional shares."
"They don't," Julian replied. "A Swiss intermediary is backing them. A numbered account out of Zurich."
Francesca paused. Her corporate intuition, honed through decades of high-stakes Wall Street warfare, began connecting the scattered dots. She pulled up the financial registers of King's College Hospital and cross-referenced the medical trusts associated with the Dowager Contessa.
"Matteo," Francesca commanded, "pull up the custodial records of the Dowager Contessa’s sanatorium in Zurich. Who paid the invoices for her private care over the last five years?"
Matteo typed rapidly, his screen illuminating with encrypted banking transfers. "The invoices were paid through an offshore entity called *Vanguard Heritage Trust*."
Francesca smiled—a cold, terrifying smile that Julian recognized instantly. It was the smile Francesca wore when she destroyed Jason in the boardroom of Vance Capital.
"Vanguard Heritage isn't Christian's trust," Francesca said, turning the laptop toward Julian. "It belongs to Nicole's father. Jason didn't just stumble upon Christian Rossi. Nicole’s family *found* Christian while he was in hiding in Geneva. They engineered this entire alliance. They took the Contessa out of the clinic to obtain her handwritten statement, and they promised Christian the Rossi empire in exchange for fifty percent of the assets!"
Julian stared at the screen, understanding dawning upon him. "It’s an extortion syndicate."
"It’s worse than that," Francesca said, leaning forward. "It’s fraud, interstate conspiracy, and witness tampering. Under Swiss federal law, manipulating a certified medical patient under psychiatric care to alter corporate trusts carries a mandatory fifteen-year sentence."
"Can we prove the Contessa was coerced?" Julian asked.
May you like
"We don't just prove it," Francesca replied, her eyes blazing with tactical brilliance. "We bring the Contessa herself to the courtroom tomorrow morning."
