Chapter 11 - The Hunter Becomes the Hunted

The dining room fell into a heavy, suffocating silence.
Cross watched me, a smug, arrogant grin spreading across his wrinkled face, savoring what he believed was his ultimate checkmate.
I took a deep, steady breath. Slowly, I reached out, picked up the acrylic-encased document, and turned it over under the chandelier light.
Then, unexpectedly, I began to laugh.
It started as a soft chuckle, but grew into a clear, mocking laugh that echoed through the vast dining hall.
Cross’s smile vanished, replaced by an irritated scowl. "What do you find so amusing, girl? You are on the verge of ruin."
"My father always told me you were brilliant at mathematics, Jonathan," I said, putting the document back on the table. "But you were always an absolute idiot when it came to chemical analysis."
Cross blinked, his eyes narrowing. "What are you talking about?"
"This paper," I tapped the acrylic sleeve. "It’s Strathmore parchment, 100% cotton rag. My father only used this specific paper between 1998 and 2002. But the ink..."
I looked straight into Cross's shocked eyes.
"The ink used for my father’s signature is iron gall ink containing synthetic cobalt blue pigments. That specific chemical formulation was patented by Montblanc in 2014—eight years *after* your supposed yacht accident, and twelve years after this contract was allegedly signed."
Cross froze. The blood drained from his face as if he had been struck by lightning.
"My father knew you had forged dummy contracts before you fled," I continued, my voice cold as an arctic blast. "He cataloged every single one of your forgery techniques in his personal journals. The moment Ethan mentioned your name this morning, I had our forensics team cross-reference the chemical registries of your Liechtenstein trusts."
I raised my left hand and tapped my smartwatch twice.
Outside the mansion, the sudden deafening roar of helicopter blades shattered the night. Powerful searchlights beamed down from the sky, cutting through the high glass windows of the dining room.
Heavy thuds reverberated through the estate as dozens of black-clad tactical federal agents breached the exterior perimeter, their shouts echoing across the grounds: *“Federal Bureau of Investigation! Drop your weapons! Stand down!”*

Cross jumped to his feet, knocking his silver wine goblet to the floor, splashing red wine across the white marble like fresh blood. "What have you done?!"
"I didn't bring local police, Jonathan," I said, rising gracefully from my chair. "I brought the federal strike force on financial terrorism. Victoria gave us the Zurich server keys four hours ago. We’ve already seized your offshore accounts. You aren't taking Zenith. You're going to spend the rest of your miserable life in a maximum-security cage."
