Chapter 70 - The Cipher of the Seventh Port

The sun had begun to set, painting the Tennessee sky in vibrant streaks of crimson, violet, and gold. I returned to Arthur’s private study at the freight terminal to complete the final digital archiving of the decrypted drive before sealing it inside the terminal’s subterranean safe for good.

The data scrub was running at ninety-nine percent. In just a few seconds, the dangerous offshore ciphers would be permanently wiped from the drive, leaving only the legitimate financial ledgers for our corporate accounting.

Suddenly, the screen blinked. The progress bar halted abruptly at ninety-nine percent, and the system speakers emitted a low, resonant warning tone.

A hidden, deeply encrypted partition—one that had remained invisible beneath seven layers of military ciphers—began to execute an autonomous decompression script.

"What is this?" I murmured, leaning closer to the glowing terminal, my pulse instantly quickening.

Text appeared across the screen, not in the standard corporate formatting of the Sterling syndicate, but in an ancient naval telegraph font:

*PROTOCOL PHOENIX: AUTONOMOUS FAILSAFE ACTIVATED.*

*ORIGIN: SEVENTH PORT — UNREGISTERED LATITUDE 58°N, ATLANTIC SECTOR 4.*

*STATUS: THE PATRIARCH HAS FALLEN. THE TRUE HEIR HAS AWAKENED THE CIPHER.*

My hands began to tremble as I watched satellite imagery download onto the terminal. It was not an image of London, nor of Nashville. It was a live thermal scan of a hidden deep-water fortress located in an uncharted archipelago off the coast of northern Scotland—a subterranean naval shipyard that didn't exist on any international maritime map.

A satellite transmission video feed flickered onto the display.

On the screen, a bridge command center appeared, staffed by naval officers wearing uniforms bearing a crest far older than the Sterling family—a double-headed iron hawk gripping an anchor wrapped in chains.

A woman with silver hair and piercing blue eyes—bearing the exact, unmistakable facial bone structure of David—stepped into frame. She looked directly into the camera lens as if staring straight through the screen into my eyes.

"To whoever holds the Vance terminal," her voice spoke, cold, sharp, and commanding across the transatlantic fiber-optic link. "Lord William was merely our bait to test the boy's resilience. If David Vance is truly the blood of the Sovereign Fleet, tell him to prepare his harbor. The Ghost Armada leaves the northern ice tonight... and we are coming to claim what Arthur Vance stole forty years ago."

The screen went black, leaving only a digital countdown clock ticking backward from seventy-two hours.

Outside on the balcony, David was laughing with Frank, unaware that the real war had not ended—it had only just begun.
