Chapter 46 - The Siege of the Ryman Vaults

"If she’s using the tugboat as a command node, she needs a landline relay to interface with the state grid," David said, his tactical mind immediately calculating the terrain. "The old communications conduit runs through the subterranean tunnels beneath the Ryman Auditorium down to the riverbank."
"Exactly," Julian nodded quickly. "She has her technicians set up in the historic vaults beneath the auditorium right now. If we cut that fiber connection, her remote wipe fails, and the decrypted files on your flash drive become the sole surviving master record."
"Miller!" I shouted down the hall.
The detective stepped through the ruined doorway, holding a bleeding shoulder but smiling grimly. "All four hostiles in the foyer are neutralized. State police convoy is ten minutes out, but their radios are getting jammed by local interference."
"We can't wait ten minutes," I said. "Eleanor is heading toward the river right now. If she reaches that vessel before we sever the uplink, this entire city goes dark legally, financially, and physically."
Within three minutes, we were in Miller’s unmarked tactical SUV, tearing through the rain-slicked asphalt toward downtown Nashville. Sirens wailed in the distance, but the city center was unnaturally quiet, an eerie calm before the storm. The streetlights on 4th Avenue flickered and died as we approached, Eleanor’s cyber team systematically shutting down the grid to blind local authorities.
We pulled up to the rear service alley of the historic auditorium. The heavy iron doors leading into the foundation vaults had been breached with a hydraulic spreader.
David racked the slide of his rifle. "Julian, you stay behind us. If you step out of line, I won't hesitate."

"I came here to see her fall," Julian replied, his voice hardening with a quiet, long-suppressed rage. "Let’s finish this."
We descended into the brick-lined catacombs beneath Nashville, where the foundations of music history rested on cold bedrock, now defiled by high-tech server racks humming in the dark.
