Chapter 33 - The Final Horizon

The bridge fell into a suffocating, lethal silence, broken only by the distant thrum of the ocean waves crashing against the hull and the rhythmic, ominous beep of the launch console.
**LAUNCH IN 60 SECONDS.**
Dylan stood breathing hard, blood dripping from his wounded forearm onto the polished deck. He looked at Marcus Vance—the man who had torn his life apart, who had thrown his honor into the dirt, who was willing to slaughter thousands of innocents just to preserve his own twisted empire.
"You think you’re invincible because of a biometric monitor?" Dylan said softly, his voice dropping into a deadly, unshakeable calm.
He walked toward the main console, ignoring Marcus’s predatory glare.
"Dylan, don't!" Mia shouted, keeping her gun locked on Marcus. "If you touch that console without the override code, it might trigger early!"
Dylan didn't stop. He pulled the brass Marine Corps emblem from his chest rig—the one Sully had recovered, the one Marcus had desecrated weeks ago. With brutal force, Dylan jammed the sharp mounting pins of the brass emblem straight into the exposed wiring junction of the biometric bypass relay beneath the console screen.
A shower of electrical blue sparks exploded from the terminal.
The console screamed with an error tone: **BIOMETRIC FEED GROUNDED. MANUAL OVERRIDE INITIATED.**
Marcus’s eyes widened in genuine, paralyzing terror. For the first time in his life, the General looked helpless. "What did you do?!"
"I remembered what you said when you threw this badge in the gravel," Dylan said, turning to face him, his eyes burning like white phosphorus. "You said I wasn't worthy to wear the uniform. But you forgot something, General. The uniform doesn't make the Marine. The fight does."
Before Marcus could reach for his sidearm, Mia fired two non-lethal hollow-point rounds straight into the General’s kneecaps. Marcus collapsed to the deck with a guttural scream of agony, clutching his shattered legs as Dylan kicked his weapon across the floor.
Dylan grabbed the ship’s primary communication mic, slamming it down on the emergency naval override channel: "All regional stations, this is Corporal Dylan Vance, United States Marine Corps. The traitor General Marcus Vance has been neutralized on the *Caspian Tide*. I am transmitting our location and his complete encrypted confession files now. Clear our names, or don't—we’re bringing him home in chains."
Across the radio speakers, static hissed... and then the unmistakable voice of the Commandant of the Marine Corps broke through the silence: *"Corporal Vance... we read you loud and clear. Stand by for air support."*
A wave of overwhelming relief washed over Dylan. Mia smiled through her tears, stepping beside him and gripping his bloody hand. They had survived. They had reclaimed their family’s honor.
But before Dylan could exhale, the radar display on the bridge suddenly flashed bright red. An emergency siren wailed, far louder and deadlier than before.
Across the darkened Pacific horizon, three high-speed thermal contacts appeared on the tactical display, traveling at Mach 4 and closing fast directly toward the *Caspian Tide*.

Marcus Vance looked up from the bloody floor, coughing blood, his broken lips curling into one final, terrifying smirk.
"You really thought... I was working alone?" Marcus whispered hoarsely. "Those aren't our gunships, Dylan. Those are the ones who bought the weapons. And they never leave witnesses."
