Chapter 44 - Bloodline Revocation

By noon, the legal documents were executed.

The Harold Carter Sovereign Trust was officially ratified under my sole authority. Sixty percent of the multi-million-dollar equity portfolio was transferred into an independent, non-profit community trust dedicated to small businesses, local diners, and working families across upstate New York.

Twenty percent was placed in a protected educational and living trust for Briana, untouchable by creditors, debt collectors, or predatory family members.

The remaining twenty percent was designated as an emergency custodial fund to settle the legal debts our mother had accumulated during her blind partnership with Arthur, ensuring she wouldn't go to prison, but stripping her of any right to ever touch corporate capital again.

Briana and I walked out of the bronze gates of Banque Privée Vaneau into the bright Alpine sunlight. The fog had lifted, revealing the shimmering blue expanse of Lake Geneva and the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc in the distance.

Briana stopped on the sidewalk, looking down at her hands, then turned to me. "What happens now, Sylvia? When we go back home?"

"We reopen the diner," I said, putting my arm around her shoulder. "We pay off every vendor Arthur stiffed. We put honest people to work. And for the first time in thirty years, the Carter name will mean something real."

A black town car pulled up to the curb. Henrik stepped out of the front passenger seat, tossing a pair of boarding passes through the window. "Private transport is fueled at Geneva Cointrin. Direct flight to JFK. Arthur was arrested at the gate thirty minutes ago by Swiss authorities acting on an Interpol red notice issued by the Eastern District of New York."

A wave of profound relief washed over me. The war that had begun with a cruel text message about stolen Amazon funds was finally, indisputably over.

Or so I thought.
