Chapter 10 - The Real Vows

Six months later.
The private gardens of Villa Bellisario were transformed into an ethereal wonderland of white roses, cascading orchids, and twinkling fairy lights that stretched all the way to the moonlit edge of Lake Como.
The entire Italian high society was in attendance—not out of fear or political obligation, but to pay homage to the most untouchable, beloved power couple in Europe.
The orchestra began to play a soaring, beautiful rendition of Pachelbel’s *Canon in D*.
Alessandro stood at the altar beneath an arch of white blooms, dressed in an immaculate black tuxedo. He looked like a king standing at the peak of his kingdom. Beside him stood Marco, his best man, grinning proudly.
Down the long aisle of white petals came the flower girl and ring bearer.
Sofia, completely healthy and radiant, twirled in a magnificent miniature silk dress, throwing rose petals into the air with wild abandon. Beside her walked Matteo, looking dashing in a tailored tuxedo matching his father’s, holding the velvet pillow bearing the golden rings with utmost solemnity.
And then, the crowd rose.
Elena appeared at the head of the aisle, escorted by an elderly family friend.
She was breathtaking. Her gown was a masterpiece of French lace and flowing silk that trailed behind her like sea foam, catching the warm evening light. Her veil was sheer, revealing a face glowing with pure, radiant happiness.
Alessandro’s breath caught in his throat. For a man who ruled millions, he felt entirely powerless before the beauty of the woman walking toward him.
When her hand was placed into his, Alessandro leaned down and kissed her knuckles with reverent grace.
“You take my breath away, Mrs. Vitale,” he whispered.
“You’re not so bad yourself, Boss,” Elena teased softly, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
The ceremony was intimate, powerful, and sacred. When the priest asked for their vows, Alessandro did not read from a prepared script. He looked directly into Elena’s eyes, holding both of her hands tightly in his.
“I promise to be your shield against every storm,” Alessandro vowed, his voice steady, rich, and filled with infinite love. “I promise to protect our children with every drop of my blood, and to cherish you above every empire on this earth. My heart belongs to you, Elena. In this life, and in every life that follows.”
Elena smiled, a tear slipping down her cheek. “I promise to stand beside you, not in your shadow, but as your equal. I promise to love you through every challenge, to give our children a home filled with joy, and to never let you walk in the dark alone again. You are my home, Alessandro.”
“By the power vested in me,” the priest pronounced with a warm smile, “I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
Alessandro didn't wait. He swept Elena into his arms, dipping her slightly as his lips claimed hers in a passionate, breathtaking kiss that ignited a deafening round of cheers and applause from the hundreds of guests.
Matteo and Sofia ran up, wrapping their arms around their parents’ legs.
Alessandro scooped both twins up into his arms, holding Matteo on one hip and Sofia on the other, while his free arm wrapped tightly around Elena’s waist.
The four of them turned to face the cheering crowd.
High above the lake, fireworks erupted into the velvet night sky, painting the water in brilliant bursts of gold, crimson, and emerald.
Matteo leaned over and whispered into Alessandro’s ear, “Papa? Are we always going to stay together like this?”
May you like
Alessandro kissed his son’s cheek, then looked at Elena, whose radiant smile outshone all the fireworks in the sky.
“Always, Matteo,” Alessandro declared, his voice ringing with absolute certainty. “Nothing in this world can ever tear our family apart again.”
