Chapter 10 - Crowned in Busan

Three months later.
The summer sea breeze swept over the rooftop terrace of the Avanoir Grand Estate. The Haeundae coastline glittered under a clear, sapphire sky, the deep-water maritime route flowing with undisturbed peace and unprecedented prosperity.
Under Nyla’s guidance, the syndicate had evolved. The illicit pipelines had been permanently dismantled; the ancient shipping empire now operated with lethal legal authority and legitimate sovereignty, unmatched across East Asia. The underworld lords no longer called her the Boss’s wife. They called her the Sovereign.
On the terrace, an easel stood in the sunlight.
Nyla wore a simple white linen dress, her hair tumbling down her shoulders in loose waves. She was painting again. But this time, she was not restoring a damaged masterwork of the past; she was creating something entirely new—a vibrant, breathtaking landscape of the Busan horizon bathed in gold.
A pair of strong arms slipped around her waist from behind.
Dante buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her clean scent of sea salt and blooming jasmine—real jasmine, pure and sweet. His scar beneath his linen shirt was fully healed, a permanent testament to the night he had bled for her.
"You're working too hard," Dante murmured, his lips tracing the sensitive curve of her jaw.
Nyla laughed softly, setting her brush down and leaning her head back against his broad chest. "I am creating art, husband. Something you know very little about."
"On the contrary," Dante whispered, turning her gently in his arms so she faced him. His amber eyes were warm, shining with a depth of love that made her knees feel weak even after all this time. "I know that my wife is the greatest masterpiece this city has ever seen."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.
Nyla raised an eyebrow playfully. "Another ring? Dante, I already wear your emerald cut. It's heavy enough to sink a freighter."
"Not a ring," Dante said softly.
He opened the box. Resting on the dark velvet was a magnificent pendant: a golden anchor wrapped in diamond-encrusted thorned vines—her family’s sovereign seal, reconstructed in flawless platinum and blue sapphires.
Dante took it from the box, stepping behind her to clasp it around her neck. The cold platinum settled against her skin, right above her heart.
"Three months ago, you saved my life," Dante whispered in her ear, his hands resting on her bare shoulders. "You held this empire together with your bare hands. Tonight, the Maritime High Council meets to sign the perpetual charter."
Nyla turned to face him, her fingers resting on the pendant. "And what does the charter state?"
Dante knelt before her.
The king of the underworld, the ruthless terror of Busan, dropped to one knee on the sunlit terrace, taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles with absolute reverence.
"It states that Dante Avanoir owns nothing," he said, looking up at her with fierce, devoted adoration. "Every ship, every dock, every harbor, and every drop of blood in my veins belongs completely, unconditionally, and forever to Nyla Avanoir."
Nyla felt tears prick her eyes, but this time, they were tears of pure, unadulterated joy. She dropped to her knees in front of him, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck, pulling him into a passionate, breathless kiss.
"I don't need the empire, Dante," she whispered against his lips, smiling as he held her like she was the only real thing in the universe. "I only need you."
Dante smiled, pulling her closer against his chest, their heartbeats synchronized and strong against the ocean wind.

"You have both, my love," Dante whispered. "Forever."
Above them, the Busan sun shone brilliant and untamed, casting its golden light over the kingdom they had bled to protect, and the love that had conquered the darkness.
