Chapter 58 - The Sovereign Protocol

On the bridge of the *Archon*, Miller sneered, his gun never wavering from Silas’s heart.
"Nothing personal, Major," Miller said coldly. "The Consortium pays in sovereign gold. You pay in old loyalties and dead honor."
"Loyalty is the only thing that keeps a man alive in the dark, Miller," Silas replied softly.
"Enough," Helena commanded, setting her glass on the console. "Kill him, Miller. Then scuttle the sub with the girl inside. We don't need her alive. We only need her bone marrow to synthesize the biometric access codes."
Miller’s finger began to squeeze the trigger.
*CRASH!*
At that exact fraction of a second, our submersible breached the surface right alongside the *Archon*, slamming into the stabilizer fin of the warship with the force of a battering ram. The entire three-thousand-ton bridge tilted violently.
Miller lost his footing, his shot firing wide and shattering the overhead lighting rack.
Silas didn't need a second chance.
With blinding, terrifying ferocity, Silas closed the distance. He grabbed Miller’s wrist, twisting it until the bones splintered with an audible snap. Miller screamed, but Silas drove his elbow into the traitor's throat, cutting the sound short. He spun Miller around, hoisted him into the air, and threw him headfirst through the reinforced glass viewport of the bridge, sending him plunging eighty feet down into the churning harbor waters below.
Silas turned his bloodstained gaze toward Helena von Berg.
The aristocratic woman backed away, her composed facade finally cracking as she reached into her coat for a silver derringer.
Silas was upon her before her fingers could even touch the grip. He seized her by the throat, lifting her clear off the ground until her polished designer boots dangled uselessly in the air.
"Where is the master key to the fleet, Helena?" Silas growled, his voice vibrating like thunder.
"Go to hell, Marcone," she choked out, her face turning crimson. "You can't... stop the Council. We are everywhere."
May you like
"You're not everywhere," Silas whispered into her ear. "Right now, you're in my harbor."
