Chapter 10 - The Queen Beside the King

Six months later.
The morning sun poured through the panoramic glass windows of the 48th floor of Vitali Tower, warming the magnificent, newly remodeled executive suite.
The wall between the private office and the outer reception area was gone, replaced by a massive, dual-station executive room furnished in imported Italian walnut, marble, and cream leather.
At eight o'clock sharp, Alex Vitali walked through the double doors, wearing a bespoke navy-blue three-piece suit. On his left ring finger, a heavy platinum wedding band caught the morning light.
He looked over at the grand mahogany desk that sat parallel to his own.
Sitting behind it, wearing an exquisite ivory tailored blazer and pencil skirt, was Grace Vitali.
Her chestnut hair was pinned up with effortless perfection. On her finger, the emerald engagement ring sat nestled against a matching diamond eternity band. She was reviewing a stack of international logistics contracts, her pen moving with rhythmic, practiced grace.
On the small marble coaster between their desks sat two porcelain cups of steaming dark roast coffee—one black, and one with exactly two brown sugar cubes.
Alex walked over, leaning down, pressing a warm, tender kiss against her lips.
"Good morning, Mrs. Vitali," he murmured, his hands resting gently on her shoulders.
Grace smiled, leaning back against his chest, tilting her head up to meet his dark, loving eyes.
"Good morning, Mr. Vitali," she replied softly. "Your nine o'clock meeting with the port authority has been confirmed. The charitable foundation for the Vance veterans’ families reached its first quarter endowment goal. And the European shipping consortium just signed the joint merger agreement without a single revision."
Alex chuckled, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her gently up from her chair into his embrace.
"You make running an empire look easy," he whispered, resting his chin on top of her head.
"Only when I have a capable partner," Grace teased, turning in his arms to loop her hands behind his neck.
Through the massive glass windows, the city of New York sprawled beneath them—peaceful, prosperous, and firmly under their shared rule. The days of back-alley shootouts and whispered conspiracies were gone, replaced by a legitimate, unstoppable dynasty forged in the fires of crisis and built on absolute trust.
"You know," Alex murmured, his lips brushing hers with slow, playful intent, "I believe the board meeting isn't until eleven."
Grace raised an eyebrow, a wicked, beautiful spark dancing in her hazel eyes. "Are you suggesting we neglect our executive duties, Mr. Vitali?"
Alex reached over to the wall console and pressed a single button.

The heavy, soundproof walnut doors clicked shut, the pneumatic deadbolts sliding into place, while the smart glass of the panoramic windows instantly frosted into opaque white, sealing the room off from the world.
"Not at all, Mrs. Vitali," Alex smiled, lifting her effortlessly into his arms as she laughed softly against his neck. "I’m simply delegating executive authority to my Queen."
