Chapter 10 - The Unwritten Vintage

The sun dipped behind the western ridge, setting the sky ablaze in deep shades of violet and gold. The valley stretched out before them, peaceful, fertile, and unbroken.

Marin unrolled the vellum across the oak table on the tasting veranda. The drawings were stunning—respectful of the land, honoring the heritage vines, yet breathing fresh light and modern longevity into the estate. In the bottom corner, instead of Larkstone’s predatory branding, Nolan had simply lettered:

*Veil House — Grounded in the Soil, Built to Endure.*

“It’s beautiful, Nolan,” Marin said, her voice softening.

“It’s a beginning,” he replied, his hand resting beside hers on the paper, close enough that she could feel the steady warmth of his presence. “If you’re willing to let me stay and build it.”

Marin looked down at the blueprints, then out across the vines that had survived greed, deception, and storm. She had spent twelve years protecting this place, fighting battles alone in cold cellars and quiet offices. But as she met Nolan’s gaze, she recognized something she hadn't felt in a very long time: trust. Not born of blind faith, but forged through fire, honesty, and choice.

“The foundation is solid,” Marin said, a genuine, radiant smile finally touching her lips. “Let's see what we can grow.”
