Chapter 7 - THE UNRAVELING OF THE NETWORK

By evening, the federal authorities had taken custody of Master Chen and his surviving enforcers.
The raid on the syndicate’s temporary safehouse in Queens—uncovered through the data extracted from Chen’s encrypted devices—yielded a treasure trove of financial ledgers, offshore account numbers, and names of corrupt politicians, judges, and corporate executives who had been taking payouts from the Sun Yee On network for over a decade.
Inside the penthouse of Vale Tower, now officially rebranded as Blackstone Meridian North, Daniel and Naomi stood by the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the lights of Manhattan twinkle in the dusk.
The media frenzy outside had reached historic proportions. News anchors breathlessly reported on the "Mega-Mafia Sting," linking the fall of Harrison Vale to an international money laundering syndicate that had just been dismantled in a single afternoon by federal prosecutors working in tandem with Blackstone Meridian’s legal and security divisions.
"The DOJ just issued a press release," Naomi said, scrolling through her tablet while sipping a glass of red wine. "Seventeen indictments. Three sitting judges under investigation. And the Hong Kong syndicate’s American financial network is completely eradicated."
Daniel wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "And the cost?"
"Zero casualties on our side," Naomi turned in his embrace, looking up at him. "Though I think Eric’s ego is going to inflate to dangerous proportions after single-handedly holding down the parking garage."
Daniel let out a low chuckle. "Eric has always enjoyed playing the hero. But the real victory belongs to you."
"To us," Naomi corrected softly, standing on her tiptoes to press her lips to his.
The moment was interrupted by the chime of the private elevator.
Eric walked in, looking remarkably relaxed, holding a bottle of expensive vintage whiskey and three crystal glasses.
"Well," Eric announced loudly, striding into the living room and pouring three generous measures. "The federal marshals have our guests safely tucked away in maximum security, the DOJ is holding a press conference thanking us for cleaning up their jurisdiction, and my security teams are sleeping like babies."
He handed a glass to Daniel and one to Naomi.
"To the family," Eric raised his glass. "May our enemies always be arrogant enough to think they can bully us."
"To the family," Daniel and Naomi echoed together, clinking their crystal glasses.
As they drank, Eric leaned against the counter, a mischievous grin crossing his face. "So... now that we own Vale Urban, liquidated the Hong Kong syndicate, and terrified every corrupt official on the East Coast... what's next on the agenda, boss?"
Daniel looked down at Naomi, a warm, unmistakable look of affection softening his usually cold features.
"Next," Daniel said quietly, "we take a vacation."
Naomi blinked, surprised. "A vacation? Daniel, we have a $1.4 billion technology portfolio, thirty new commercial towers to integrate, and an entire corporate empire to restructure."
"The empire can run itself for two weeks," Daniel replied firmly, taking her hand and intertwining his fingers with hers. "My grandfather left me a quiet house overlooking the ocean in Busan. No phones, no spreadsheets, no hostile takeovers."
Eric rolled his eyes dramatically. "Oh, great. The romantic CEO routine. Fine, go to Korea. Leave me here to run the entire American operation while you two stare at the sunset."
"You'll survive, little brother," Daniel smirked.
Naomi looked up at her husband, her heart swelling with a deep, profound love. The man who was feared as a cold, ruthless corporate boss, the man whose family commanded respect across continents, was looking at her like she was the only person in the entire world.

"Busan sounds perfect," Naomi whispered, leaning her head against his shoulder.
