Chapter 35 - Setting Course for the Unknown

With Marcus Vance’s threat neutralized and his assets frozen pending international litigation, our yacht weighed anchor and surged past the Greek coastline, heading deeper into the Aegean Sea. The tension that had lingered in the air since our departure from Monaco finally evaporated, replaced by an intoxicating sense of absolute invincibility. That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon in a blazing display of crimson and gold, Dante and I sat on the forward deck sharing a bottle of 1982 Château Lafite. "You were magnificent out there today," Dante said, pouring the deep red wine into my glass. "I almost felt sorry for Vance." "Never feel sorry for men who underestimate women with nothing left to lose," I replied, clinking my glass against his. "They dug their own graves the moment they thought they could dictate my future." Dante reached across the table, his fingers intertwining with mine, the heavy platinum band cold against my skin. "So, my ruthless CEO," he murmured, his eyes dark and intense in the flickering candlelight. "What empire do we conquer next?"
