Chapter 9 - The Global Confession

The live stream began at precisely 6:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time. Within three minutes, over forty million concurrent viewers tuned in across YouTube, Facebook Live, and major news networks globally, shattering previous broadcast records. The digital chatter was deafening; comment sections scrolled past at lightning speed with furious debates, memes, and an overwhelming wave of support for the mysterious woman who had brought down a titan.

In the grand auditorium of the Wynn Global headquarters, the lighting was stark and clinical. Rows of reporters sat in hushed anticipation, their cameras pointed toward the raised oak stage.

The side door opened, and Richard Wynn walked out. He looked ten years older, his posture broken, his eyes hollowed out by the sheer magnitude of his impending ruin. He was no longer the untouchable billionaire who had dragged Mara through airport security like a nobody; he was a disgraced, pathetic relic of a bygone era of unchecked corporate corruption.

Behind the scenes in the control room, Mara stood watching the monitor alongside Adrian. Her reflection in the glass was sharp, composed, and undeniably victorious.

Richard walked up to the podium, gripping the edges of the wood as the flashes from hundreds of cameras blinded him. He cleared his throat, his voice cracking slightly into the microphone.

“My name is Richard Wynn,” he began, the words tasting like ash in his mouth. “For over two decades, I have presented myself to the world as a visionary leader, a pioneer of technological innovation. But today... today I must confess the truth before the global community.”

A pin drop could be heard in the massive auditorium.

“Everything I built, every patent I claimed as my own, every dollar of my initial fortune was stolen,” Richard continued, his voice trembling under the crushing weight of public scrutiny. “In nineteen-ninety-nine, I systematically framed my chief lead architect and brilliant innovator, Mara Vail, for corporate espionage. I bribed officials, forged documents, and destroyed her life to steal her algorithms and secure my monopoly.”

He paused, choking back a sob as the reporters began typing furiously, their keyboards sounding like a swarm of angry hornets.

“Mara Vail is alive,” Richard said, staring directly into the central camera lens that was broadcasting his confession to tens of millions of homes worldwide. “And today, I am officially stepping down as CEO of Wynn Global, handing back every share, every title, and every right to her. May the world know the truth of my sins.”

With that, Richard turned around and stumbled off the stage, completely broken, as a chorus of shouting reporters erupted behind him.

In the control room, Adrian turned to Mara, his eyes shining with profound admiration. “You did it. You destroyed the monster on his own terms.”

May you like

Mara turned away from the screen, letting out a long, shuddering breath. “No, Adrian. I just reclaimed what was always mine.”
