Chapter 8 - THE NEW HORIZON

Six months later, the Chicago business district had transformed into a landscape of reinvention, and so had I.

As the Chairwoman of Sterling Global, my days were filled with high-level strategic acquisitions, tech innovation summits, and philanthropic ventures that actually made a tangible difference in the community. My grandfather’s legacy was secure, but under my leadership, the empire was expanding into green energy, sustainable urban housing, and ethical AI development.

The media eventually stopped talking about the "Wedding Scandal of the Year." Alexander Blackwood had quietly packed up what remained of his belongings and moved to a small town in the Pacific Northwest, where rumor had it he was working as a mid-level sales rep for a regional logistics firm—a humbling descent for a man who once believed he was destined to conquer Wall Street.

Rachel laughed out loud, raising her coffee cup. "An excellent choice. I’ll start shopping for a dress immediately. Something red. Something that says, *‘I survived a corporate takeover and all I got was this fabulous outfit.’* "

My phone vibrated gently on the table.

I picked it up. It wasn't a corporate emergency, and it wasn't a ghost from my past. It was a message from the head of our renewable energy division, confirming that our new solar infrastructure project in the Midwest had successfully secured community approval.

*Everything is on track, Ms. Carter,* the message read.

I smiled, locked my phone, and slipped it into my pocket.

May you like
