Chapter 4 - The Billionaire’s Terms

Declan Pierce stood up from his chair, buttoning his charcoal-gray suit jacket with slow, deliberate precision. He walked over to the mahogany table, picked up the black leather folder, and tapped it against his palm.
"Mr. Calloway," Declan said, his tone entirely conversational, as if they were discussing the weather rather than the complete destruction of a man's existence. "Here are your options. Option one: You sign the complete relinquishment of your remaining executive shares in Calloway Logistics, you sign the waiver of all marital property claims, and you sign a full confession regarding the embezzlement and corporate fraud documented on that screen."
Ethan stared at him, horrified. "And if I don't?"
"If you don't," Declan continued, his expression hardening into absolute steel, "my legal team transmits these files to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Manhattan District Attorney's office within the next twelve minutes. Given the nature of interstate wire fraud and embezzlement, bail will not be an option. You will spend the remainder of your prime years wearing an orange jumpsuit in a maximum-security federal penitentiary, while your brilliant mistress here joins you on accessory charges."
Vanessa let out a low, hysterical sob, sliding down the side of the velvet armchair until she was sitting on the floor, her hands buried in her face.
"You can't do this," Ethan muttered, his voice trembling uncontrollably. "This is extortion! This is coercion!"
"This is business," Declan corrected coldly. "And you, Mr. Calloway, were always a very minor player in a very large game."
Grace walked over to Declan’s side. The billionaire instinctively reached out, his hand resting lightly and protectively against the small of her back—a gesture so natural, so deeply intimate, that it struck Ethan harder than any physical blow could have.
"You... you're with him?" Ethan stared at them, the final puzzle piece clicking into place with sickening clarity. "You and Pierce... all this time...?"
"Declan and I share certain... mutual business interests," Grace said smoothly, her hand resting over Declan’s. "When I discovered your betrayal, I didn't cry in a corner, Ethan. I called Pierce Global Holdings. I offered them your entire logistics network at a fraction of its market value in exchange for backing my financial independence and ensuring absolute legal protection for my child and me."
Declan looked down at Grace with a look of profound respect—something Ethan had never given his wife in the entire duration of their marriage.
"A brilliant negotiator," Declan remarked softly. "Far superior to her husband."
"Sign it, Ethan," Grace said, sliding the gold fountain pen across the table until it rested right beneath Ethan's trembling hands. "You have three minutes before Declan makes the call."
Ethan looked down at the pen.
Around him, the glittering penthouse suite of the Halcyon Crown Resort—a symbol of wealth, luxury, and unearned entitlement—suddenly felt like a tomb. His empire was gone. His money was gone. His freedom hung by a thread thinner than a spider's silk.

Slowly, his hands shaking so violently he could barely grip the barrel, Ethan reached down, picked up the pen, and lowered the nib to the paper.
